February Recap

February Recap | WrittenByJennifer

It’s February recap time! Let’s get it out there right now: February was the worst! I had set reasonable goals for myself at the beginning of the month. I was going to do things little by little and make steady progress, nothing unattainable. That all went out the window when I got sick the first week on the month and it took me the majority of February to kick it and get back to my normal self. By the time that happened I was heading out to North Caroline for training with the Army (I’ll talk about this another day) and when I got back it was March.

My goal for February was to be done a good portion of my first round of rewriting. That did not happen and even if I hadn’t been sick this wouldn’t have happened. I completely underestimated how tedious this task would be. I’m working from handwritten notes and trying to make the changes on my computer so it’s a lot of back and forth.

I’m glad I didn’t get too far into this though because I’ve been thinking about how it’s written now and trying to fix some points that I feel are lacking or stilted and I came up with a solution over the weekend. It will require some major re-writes but I think it will ultimately make it better.

My goal for March is to find time every day to work on it. I need to get back into a routine and prioritize better.

House to Home

This is the one goal that I made some progress on, not much, but still it’s something. I found something for the wall by the entryway.

It reads “Life takes us unexpected places, love brings us home”. As soon as I saw this (at JoAnn’s Fabrics of all places) I was sold. It’s so true of our new life as an active duty military family. I still didn’t order the mattes for the empty picture frames on the stairwell wall but I did find a place that does them for less than the cost of my first born child. The only hang up is I need to email them for custom cuts. Anything requiring extra effort on my part went out the window in February.

IĀ will order those mattes this month. I also want to find frames for two photos I bought in the Outer Banks over the summer and hang them in our dining room. I also need to find a spring wreath but that may be a girls’ night out project with friends, a wine and craft type event.

Get Fit

Hahahaha!! I went to the gym twice in February. Twice. I went the Monday before I got sick, could barely muster up enough energy to make it through that workout and could barely get out of bed for the rest of the month. I did go last Monday but then it rained Tuesday (I walk to the gym) and Wednesday isn’t great because I have to get Jack to school, and then I was travelling to North Caroline on Thursday.

I know part of the reason why I’ve been so exhausted is because I was really sick but the other part is because I haven’t been moving as much as I should be. My goal is to get back into the habit of going three times a week and getting close to the non-stop one mile mark.

So there you have. A recap of the shittiest month ever. I’m kind of glad that I had a terrible month so early on in the year. I think if this had happened around July or August I would have just thrown up my hands and given up; thinking that it would be impossible to get back all the progress I had made.

What did you accomplish in February? What are your goals for March?

  1. Gotta love trying to stick to goals through the business of life! Looks like you did make some progress though, and the year is young! šŸ˜‰ Love that quote you found for your home.

I was just telling this to a friend: it seems like whenever I get into a workout groove, I end up getting sick and it #&^$#s the whole thing up. I just started working out again after a VERY LONG hiatus (summer) and it’s actually been nice going back. It’s NOT easy to squeeze it into my day, but I can’t continue to be annoyed at how clothes fit or how gross I feel after a long winter. Glad February is over; let’s move on!

I didn’t complete any of February’s goals’ either! ^^; This month my focus is getting fit. I’ve started a new eating plan and I’m actually going to go to the gym 3 times a week this month. DH and I both are committing to fitness this month, so I think that will help.

  4. I just wanted to let you know that I love your blog and I’ve nominated you for the Liebster Award! (:
